Heyven was first imagined in 2020 by two creative professionals in Minnesota who recognized the need for deeper connections within the small business community. Everyday people needed a way to discover businesses, while businesses needed to connect with customers, partners, and resources.

After several successful years running their branding agency, VZNCY, they found themselves in a slow season at the end of 2022. During this time, finding new work and connections became challenging, and they met many other business owners facing similar struggles in Minnesota’s segmented and insular business community.

It became clear that Minnesota needed an online directory—a space where people could easily discover, shop, hire, and connect with local businesses. They wanted to find businesses owned and operated by individuals from specific backgrounds and communities, to expand their network and knowledge, and to feel part of something bigger. When they couldn't find such a place, they realized they needed to create it themselves.

After months of work, Heyven officially launched in June 2023. Heyven is more than just a directory; it's a community. We’re bringing like-minded people together to network, share valuable knowledge and resources, and support one another. With over 525,000 small businesses in Minnesota, we believe that supporting local is essential for economic growth. Our goal is to build a thriving small business ecosystem, and we can't do it without your help.
